NCC 3-11  Dún Geanainn 8-12

The U16s hurled well in the U16 Championship final on Sun morning 15th June 2014 but were left to rue the five goals coughed up in the first half. Manager Thomas Nixon was absent from the game due to urgent family matters and this had an unsettling effect on the lads. The space that was allowed to develop in front of the Cilles goalmouth left us very prone to leaking goals which the experienced Dungannon duly obliged. In saying that, the young black and reds never wilted and hurled with determination and pride to the finish. Eagerness for the fray was one pleasing aspect of the performance and they produced plenty of skilful passages of play to underline their potential. For now, we should take Kiplings advice and 'treat those two imposters the same' (winning and losing). With more dedication and practice, this group of lads could give the Cilles support some very enjoyable hurling moments in the seasons to come.
